My big question/November

The big question that I have during this month is will we ever find out what happens when we die, like is there an afterlife or do we just get erased from existence.

My memory of reading

I remember reading about Jean and how people didn't accept him when he was looking for a place to stay. He gave up but a woman told him to visit the bishop's home. The bishop did end up letting him in even though the two women were suspicious of him.

Les Mis today

A connection that I had was about a time I talked to some person that looked like they had been addicted to crack for 10 years but the person ended up being very nice and respectful, this had to do with Monsieur Bienvenu not caring about how a person was but how they were as a human. Another connection had to do with whenever something very lucky happened to us, my mom always said that it had to do with being blessed by God. Also one time my family took in one of my sibling's friend because the person was having problems with their own family and thought it would be safer to be with us.

Les Mis and the French Revolution

A connection between the two was about who had more power depending on wealth signs, like the rich being seen upon the powered. Another would be about G- being an executor for people who broke the law where during the revolution if you agreed and were with the King, you were executed.

Les Mis part 1 summary

Les Miserables part 1 revolves around a man and what goes on about his life. he is known as Monsieur Bienvenu or M. Myriel. We learned that before he became a bishop, he was known almost like as a bum, but he was wealthy though. But he did change, he wanted to change into someone who would have been way different than how he was. He became a man of respect and kindness among others, he trusted everyone equally no matter how different they were.

As time went on, we read more about the generous things he did. The thing about that is he didn't think of it as generosity, he thought of it as the right thing to do. For example, he had switched his home with the hospital to give more room for patients, another would be that he would give donations to other people or groups even if that meant being left with little amounts of money at the end. He acted equally toward other people, no matter if they were rich, poor, mean, or nice. He trusts people to the point where he doesn't even want to lock his house doors.

Overall, Monsieur Bienvenu is a great influencer and does have a very good mindset. It got to the point where the two women that live with him sometimes disagree with his decisions, but still, do what he says because they know what he thinks is the best idea. Yet there are some people who don't think positively about Monsieur Bienvenu. It depends if they're talking about religion or him in general. Some of the other bishops don't think he deserves a spot as the bishop because they go after wealth instead of religious teachings. There are some lessons to be learned by Monsieur Bienvenu that can teach us a better meaning of life.

Success

When it comes to being successful everyone thinks of it differently. Some think about fame and fortune and some thing about achieving something in life. The thing about success is that people think what they want is what makes their life successful.

What's this all about

So far the story of Les Miserables has been about a man named M. Myriel that was given the role of being a bishop during the era of the French Revolution. It mainly talks about how he spreads his wisdom and how he deals with his life. There was a quick transition at the beginning that showed how he changed into a man that's all about respect and generosity. There were many examples given about what kind of person he is like how he donates money to people in his community, no matter if they're rich or poor. He is mainly respected by most and is seen as an influencer in a way. He gave up his home for the people in the hospital that needed it. And he is very trustworthy of people he doesn't even know like for example, he doesn't even lock the doors to him home.

What a character

In Les MisĂ©rables, Victor Hugo goes to great lengths to describe the character of M. Myriel. He uses both direct and indirect characterization to help the reader get to know M. Myriel. Here are some examples: He was told be be around 70 years old, so he was pretty old. He was also generous, he gave up his home and gave it to the people from the hospital. He was also very giving because he would donate livres to his community even though he would only have a small portion left. And he wouldn’t just help poor people, he would help rich people also. He was very trustworthy and trusted everyone because he would never lock the doors in his house.

Summary of Le Mis pg 18-20

In these pages M. Myrial talks about the things he does during his free time, he talks about gardening and what it means to him. He also spends time visiting different types of people like the poor and rich, then he gives to them no matter what class they’re in because they should all be treated equally.  When ever he writes he usually writes about religion, and he eats breakfast at the same time as lunch. Then it gives us an idea of what type of house M. Myrial has.
